    Programme Conference August 31, 2023

    August 31, fellows and alumni will gather in Driebergen-Zeist for their annual conference, dedicated to Science and Happiness.

    Alumnus Carlo Beenakker has kindly agreed to deliver the keynote address, entitled:
    Why We Wonder: Reasons Why Humans Do Science.

    We are pleased to announce that Evangelia Demerouti, member of the Niels Stensen Fellowship Committee, will deliver a second address:
    Maintaining Well-being and the Work-life Balance.

    During the afternoon, conference attendees will have the opportunity to engage,
    up close and personal, with either prof. Demerouti or prof. Beenakker, during break-out sessions dedicated to the crafting of personal demands and resources and the joys of being a scientist, respectively.

    Nomination deadline extended till May 20, 2023

    Nomination deadline extended till May 20, 2023

    The nomination deadline for a 2023-2024 Niels Stensen Fellowship has been extended. Professors who would like to nominate a candidate are invited to send us a letter of recommendation before 20 May 2023. This nomination must be supported by at least one other professor connected to a Dutch university or research institute, as stated in our online application procedure. Candidates can be recommended if they have officially received their PhD from a Dutch university after 15 June 2022. Candidates who have not yet obtained their PhD can be recommended if they are scheduled to receive their PhD before 15 June 2024 (a statement that the thesis committee has approved the thesis should have been received by us no later than 31 December 2023).

    Prior to the annual Niels Stensen Conference, also this year a Leadership Meeting takes place. This time in the former monastery Soeterbeeck, near Nijmegen.
